Comfort and Convenience Upgrade

The HTC Vive can throw the player into experiences where you may be ducking and weaving with great intensity. When you are in the middle of an intense battle, do you really want to have to reach and adjust your HTC Vive’s HMD every time you feel a slip? Of course not! To the rescue is this amazing accessory for the HTC Vive that is so outstanding, it should frankly come standard – The Deluxe Audio Strap

Pro’s and Con’s

Pros

Reduces Strain and Discomfort

Wearing the HTC Vive for long periods of time can cause strain on the face and neck. Most of the weight is transferred to the top and back of the head, instead of your face, giving you more stamina to play longer sessions.

Headphones Included

Included on the Deluxe Audio Strap are headphones, on-the-ear style. The positioning is extremely customizable and adjustable to your comfort needs and will move up, down and all around for you. Definitely a great value on sound quality, they do a really great job and even hit the lows nicely for what the price.

More Comfortable Than a Wireless Headset

Having to wear a wireless headset can not only be uncomfortable at the crown of your head where the HTC Vive meets the headset, but the added heat that is created from over-the-ear headphones tends to be a problem. Sweat less and stay cool and never have to adjust a headset again thanks to the Deluxe Audio Strap.

L

Easier to Take On and Off

With the twistable knob on the back of the strap you can adjust the tightness of the HTC Vive against your face, which is ideal for those with glasses, to put on and remove the HMD with little contact with the lenses.

Cons

Difficult to Remove

Once you attach the Deluxe Audio Strap you may find it difficult to remove from the HTC Vive. There is no reason to do so, however.

Doesn't Come Standard

This design is such an improvement, it’s honestly sad that it isn’t included as the default set-up!

Our Full Review

The Deluxe Audio Strap changes the game when it comes to getting the most out of your HTC Vive. It is hands down almost required if you want to have comfortable VR experiences that last more than 60-90 minutes and eliminates the need for costly Bluetooth or wireless headsets that can cause discomfort and extra heat, adding to the potential to sweat while wearing your HTC Vive.

First off, the Deluxe Audio Strap has a pair of over-the-ear style headphones, as the name suggests. The ability to position the headphones on your ears as you see fit delivers great comfort as you can move the actual cups up and down and left to right, as well as angle them on a floating pivot to fit your ears exactly how you need it. It is definitely a set it and forget it kind of comfort. The headphones also pull away from the headset independently, making it easier to take the HTC Vive’s HMD on and off, or even just pull one away from your head to talk to someone nearby.

Next, the Deluxe Audio Strap is designed to fit snugly around the head, with support both on top and under the back of the head. There is a rotating dial on the back which allows the user to bring the HTC Vive closer to the face, which forces support to begin at the back of the head instead of your face taking the brunt of the HMD. This dial also allows you to adjust the distance carefully if you wear glasses, which helps protect the HTC Vive’s lenses from making contact with the glasses frame.

One thing to note is that after attaching the Deluxe Audio Strap, it was notably difficult to remove without applying enough pressure that actually felt excessive. There is no real reason to remove the Deluxe Audio Strap from the HTC Vive’s HMD, and with no other superior experience in sight, the Deluxe Audio Strap will most likely remain a permanent addition to your HTC Vive experience.
