Sleek and Affordable

As far as budget PC’s go – the SkyTech Shadow featuring the AMD FX-8350 is the most friendly option for those dipping their toes into VR Gaming. The case is incredibly sleek and feel durable, its many intake and exhaust ports keeping every internal and a good running temperature.

This is in the top 10 most sold PCs on Amazon and for good reason.  The value of this system can come very close to beating a self-assembled unit, but if you lack the know-how or desire to make your own, this system is the perfect rig for you. Unbox and play within minutes of unboxing.

HTC Vive – VR readiness

This is one of the best systems available on the market to get started with the HTC Vive. While this will not be the system that runs everything on Ultra, especially the more demanding titles, this PC will run the HTC Vive with very few hiccups. We played dozens of games and found the experience was perfectly fine and did not miss many of the ultra graphics settings.

The frame rate remained smooth, dipping occasionally, but barely noticeable during our VR gaming sessions.

Pro’s and Con’s

Gorgeous Case Design

The simple black exterior houses tight wiring lit with LED lighting that can be a great accent piece in a gaming area.

Dollar for Dollar, this PC is a value VR ready system. When you are buying the HTC Vive, you cannot go wrong with the SkyTech Shadow

Solid State Drive

As SSD devices become more ubiquitous, it is nice to see them landing in budget-friendly builds like the Shadow

Not going to last forever

Unquestionably mid-tier for gaming, this unit will need upgrades in the future, depending on future releases. The GTX 1060 GPU in the box will play most games out today on High but can struggle with more robust titles like The Witcher 3

This kit is pretty heavy, weighing in at around 30 pounds, but what it lacks in finesse it makes up for it with great durability.
